Greenville, S.C. – Furman sophomore forward Jake Raine was selected third team All-South Region by the United Soccer Coaches, it was announced on Tuesday.
A native of Stoke, England, Raine was named to the All-Southern Conference first team for the second consecutive season. He led the Paladins in scoring during the regular season with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists. Raine ranked third in the SoCon in both points and goals. He tied his career high of two goals on October 19 against 18th-ranked Duke.
Raine scored a goal in seven consecutive games which, based on records available dating back to 2004, makes him the only Furman player to accomplish the feat. He was the first Paladin since Haris Cekic in 2007 to record double-digit goals in a season. Raine was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on November 2 and honored as the league's Offensive Player of the Month for October.
The Paladins concluded the 2021 season with a 7-9-1 overall record while going 4-2 against SoCon opponents. Furman tied for third in the conference standings and advanced to the semifinals as the tournament's No. 3 seed.
Raine was one of three Furman players to earn postseason SoCon honors, joining Miles Fenton and Ivan Agyaakwah.
