Greenville, S.C. – Sophomores
Riley Ludlam and
Hana Suniga each drove in three runs to lead Furman to an 11-0 victory over South Carolina State in non-conference softball action Wednesday afternoon at Pepsi Stadium.
Ludlam, a native of Fort Myers, Fla., drilled a double off of the left field line to drive in two runs in the bottom of the first and raced home on a stolen base and throwing error to extend the lead to 3-0.
Furman (2-5) put the game away with eight runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Claire Ginder drew the second of her three walks on the day and scored on Ludlam's single. After Furman loaded the bases without another hit, a fielder's choice plated one run and
Amanda Fleming drove in a second with a single. Suniga followed by lining a pinch-hit triple past a diving leftfielder to clear the bases. A ground out and
Emily Bartlett double upped the Paladin advantage to 11-0.
Freshman
Sierra Tufts tossed three scoreless innings to earn her first collegiate victory. She allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out two batters.
Shelby Basso fanned three batters in two scoreless innings of relief.
Ludlam went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Suniga finished 1-for-1 with three RBI. Ginder walked and scored all three at bats.
