GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman University's football team is set to report to campus on Thursday and open preseason camp on Friday with a 9:50 a.m. workout at the Bob King Practice Facility.

The Paladins will practice in shorts and helmets and will repeat the schedule on Saturday.

A total of 113  players make up the program's roster, including 12 seniors, 16 juniors, 26 sophomores, and 59 freshmen.

Furman, a preseason third place pick in a poll of SoCon media and fourth place selection by league coaches, returns 21 starters, including nine regulars, 10 on defense, and the squad's placekicker and punter.

Among the top returnees on offense are tailback Devin Wynn (2,468 yds. 25 TDs), running back Devin Abrams (896 yds., 6 TDs), tight end Ryan Miller (36 rec., 695 yds., 9 TDs), wide receiver Ryan DeLuca (56 rec., 896 yds., 9 TDs), tackle Anderson Tomlin, and quarterback Hamp Sisson (1,937 passing yards, 15 TDs).

Wynn, Miller, and Tomlin are All-SoCon honorees, and Miller was a first team Associated All-America pick following the seven-game spring season.

On defense Furman's top returning performers include tackles Matt Sochovka (37 tack., 4 TFL, 2 sacks) and Parker Stokes (82 tack., 15.5 TFL, 2 sacks), nose guard Cameron Coleman (35 tack., 5.5 TFL, 2 sacks), bandit Adrian Hope (89 tack., 29 TFL, 23.5 sacks, 6 FF), inside linebackers Nicky Kuzemka (55 tack., 2.5 TFL), and Braden Gilby (110 tack., 5.5 TFL), cornerback Travis Blackshear (73 tack., 3 INT, 8 PBU), and strong safety DiMarcus Clay (90 tack, 2 INT, 9 PBU).

Stokes, Coleman, and Hope have been recognized as All-SoCon performers.  Hope, who garnered AP All-America honors as a freshman in 2018, ranks third in Furman history in sacks.

Timmy Bleekrode (43.6 punting avg., 6x7 FGs), who handles the squad's punting and placement chores, garnered all-conference laurels as a punter in the spring.

Under the direction of head coach Clay Hendrix, who is entering his first fourth season at the helm of the program, Furman kicks off the season on Sept. 4 when it plays host to North Carolina A&T at Paladin Stadium.
