Florida Downs Furman, 77-50

GAINESIVLLE, FLA. -- Alberte Rimdal scored a game high 19 points to pace a contingent of four double-figure scorers to power Florida past Furman in women's basketball action Monday evening at the O'Connell Center.

Rimdal, a sophomore guard, made 5-of-9 shots, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, and was perfect on five free throw attempts to lead the Gators (4-1).

Leilani Correa followed with 17 points, and Nina Rickards contributed 15 points and a game high seven assists for Florida, which also got 12 points and seven rebounds from Ra Shaya Kyle.

Florida connected on 10-of-26 3-pointers in the contest while limiting Furman to just 13-of-52 shooting from the field (25.0 percent).  The Paladins (2-3) suffered 24 turnovers.

Furman was paced by freshman guard Jaelyn Acker with 15 points.

The Paladins hit their first five shots to take an 11-6 lead but failed to connect on their next 13 field goal attempts as Florida fashioned a 14-0 run to take a 20-11 lead following a pair of Leilani free throws with three seconds remaining in the first quarter.

After Acker's three-point play cut Florida's lead to 20-14, the Gators reeled of 10 consecutive points to take command, upping their advantage to 30-14 on a Leilani layup with four minutes remaining in the first half.

Furman returns to home to play Charleston Southern on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.  Tipoff against the Buccaneers was moved back to 7:00 to accommodate Furman's home noon FCA first round playoff game on Saturday versus Elon.
