Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team returns to the road on Tuesday evening when it travels to Boone, N.C., for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off versus former Southern Conference rival Appalachian State at the Holmes Convocation Center.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Furman play-by-play voice Dan Scott and Tom Van Hoy's radio broadcast on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM. The radio broadcast will also be streamed on Audacy.com and via the Audacy app.
Tuesday's contest marks the 88
th meeting between the Paladins and Mountaineers in a series that began during the 1971-72 season. Furman holds a 48-39 series lead and has won each of the last four meetings, including a 73-65 verdict last season at Timmons Arena on the strength of 16 points apiece from
Mike Bothwell and
Jalen Slawson. The Paladins' last visit to Boone, which came during the 2015-16 campaign, resulted in a 79-70 victory.
Furman is coming off a 102-74 triumph over NCAA Division II foe Tusculum on Friday afternoon at Timmons Arena. The Paladins connected on 18-of-20 shots during one stretch to build a 59-27 lead en route to their 29
th win in their last 30 regular season non-conference games at Timmons. Redshirt-junior
Marcus Foster posted a career-high 22 points, while Slawson notched his 12
th career double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Appalachian State enters Tuesday's matchup at 5-2 after scoring back-to-back victories over Southeastern Louisiana and ETSU. The Mountaineers, picked seventh in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll, downed the Buccaneers 74-70 in Johnson City, Tenn., in their most recent outing.
Following its trip to Appalachian State, Furman returns to Timmons Arena to host South Carolina State at noon on Saturday, December 3. Furman fans are invited to stay following the game for a Paladin football watch party on the arena big screens as Furman takes on Incarnate Word in the FCS playoffs.
