Furman And High Point Put Four-Game Winning Streaks On The Line In Tuesday Clash At Timmons

Tip-Off Set For 7 P.M.

Greenville, S.C. – Furman and High Point both look to extend their four-game winning streaks when the Paladins and Panthers clash in a 7 p.m. non-conference men's basketball matchup at Timmons Arena on Tuesday.

Tickets for Tuesday night's game, presented by Parsley & Mint, can be purchased here and fans that bring an unwrapped toy to the Timmons Arena Box Office will have the opportunity to purchase a $5 ticket as part of the Furman Holiday Toy Drive.

Tuesday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Bryant Lambert and Terrence Oglesby calling the action. Dan Scott and Tom Van Hoy will handle the radio play-by-play and color commentary, respectively, for the radio broadcast on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM, 1330 AM, and via the Audacy app.

Furman enters the matchup with High Point (7-1) at 6-2 following victories over South Carolina, Tusculum, Appalachian State, and South Carolina State. The Paladins downed the Bulldogs 88-76 in their last outing on Saturday afternoon at Timmons. The victory marked Furman's 30th win in its last 31 regular season non-conference contests at Timmons and improved the Paladins to 88-14 on their home floor since the start of the 2015-16 campaign.

Fifth-year senior Mike Bothwell and redshirt-junior Marcus Foster paced the Paladins with 16 points apiece on Saturday, but it was the contributions of sophomore Alex Williams that secured Furman's fourth consecutive win. With Furman leading 55-54, the Xenia, Ohio, native netted all of his career-high 15 points during a 19-4 run to help the Paladins build a 74-58 advantage. In just under nine minutes of action, Williams connected on 6-of-7 shots, including 3-of-4 beyond the three-point arc, grabbed two rebounds and drew a charge. He entered the game having played just 1:39 this season.

Furman and High Point have met three times on the hardwood with the Paladins winning all three previous meetings. Last season in High Point, N.C., Bothwell scored last-second baskets to force overtime and double overtime as the Paladins escaped with a 74-70 victory over the Panthers. Alex Hunter led the way with 18 points while Foster and Jalen Slawson each posted a double-double. The duo became the first in Furman history to each grab at least 14 rebounds in the same game.

High Point claimed its fourth straight win with a 93-88 triumph over North Florida this past Saturday. The Panthers, picked fifth in the Big South Conference, suffered their lone loss of the season on November 18 at unbeaten UNLV.

Furman plays the final game of its three-game homestand on Saturday, December 10, when the Paladins host Winthrop for a 4 p.m. tip-off at Timmons Arena.
