Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team goes for its fifth consecutive victory, and sixth in a row at home over Southern Conference opponents, on Wednesday evening when it welcomes The Citadel Bulldogs to Timmons Arena for a 7 p.m. tip off.
With the increase of COVID-19 transmission and infections, everyone attending an indoor athletic event at Furman University is required to wear a mask. Masks are required upon entry and must be worn within the facility except when eating or drinking.

The Paladins (16-7, 8-2 SoCon) extended their winning streak to four last Saturday following an 80-50 victory at Mercer. Furman concluded the game shooting 47.5 percent from the field and held a 34-29 advantage in rebounding. For the second straight game, the Paladins registered double-digit offensive rebounds after finishing with 13, which led to 12 second chance points. Furman also limited Mercer to just 3-of-16 behind the 3-point line and forced 22 turnovers.
The Paladins had five players score in double figures led by
Garrett Hien's 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
Marcus Foster,
Jalen Slawson and
Tyrese Hughey all finished with 11 points.
Conley Garrison added 10 points. Slawson also provided eight assists and seven rebounds. Hughey's 11 points, scored on 5-of-8 shooting, and seven rebounds are both career highs.
Mike Bothwell and
Joe Anderson each had eight points.
Bothwell leads Furman offensively this season averaging 15.5 points per game while
Alex Hunter and Garrison contribute 14.3 and 9.7 points, respectively. Slawson adds 15.2 points and a team high 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Citadel is currently 9-11 overall and 3-6 in the SoCon after falling 75-62 to Chattanooga last Saturday. The Bulldogs have three players averaging in double digits led by Hayden Brown with 18.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. He is joined by Jason Roche (13.4) and Stephen Clark (10.9). The Citadel is under the direction of seventh-year head coach Duggar Baucom.
The Paladins and Bulldogs are meeting for the 216
th time in program history and Furman leads the all-time series 128-87.
Furman returns to downtown Greenville on Saturday afternoon when it hosts UNC Greensboro at 12 p.m. from Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
