Furman Hosts Wofford Wednesday in Big South Opener

Paladins-Terriers Meeting for Fifth Time in Program History

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team will play its first-ever Big South Conference game on Wednesday evening when it hosts the Wofford Terriers at 6 p.m. from Paladin Stadium.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. The game is being streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. Updates will also be posted on the Furman women's lacrosse Twitter page (@FUWlax).

Admission to all Furman women's lacrosse home games this season is free of charge. The first 100 fans in attendance Wednesday will receive a free Furman women's lacrosse t-shirt.

The Paladins (0-5) closed out a two-game road trip last Friday with a 22-4 loss to 23rd-ranked Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla. Sophie Shaw led Furman after recording season highs in both goals and points, concluding the game with three points on two goals and one assist. Meagan Beal and Anna Roser each had one goal. Lauren Farber won four draws and Sophia Buzelis picked up two ground balls. Seven different players caused one turnover apiece. In goal, Lily Rathbun registered a career high 14 saves to go with one ground ball and one caused turnover.

Beal leads the Paladins this season with 10 points on eight goals and two assists while Farber, Hannah Dintino and Paige Harman each contribute seven points. Harman has dished out a team leading four assists. Farber has won 16 draws and Beal adds five caused turnovers. Rathbun has compiled 54 saves and a team high 19 ground balls.

Wofford is currently 2-5 on the season following a 20-9 victory at Delaware State last Saturday. The Terriers are under the direction of third-year head coach Kim Orie Eldridge.

Furman and Wofford are meeting for the fifth time in program history with the Paladins leading the all-time series 4-0.

Furman remains in conference play Saturday afternoon when it travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a 1 p.m. contest against Gardner-Webb.
