Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team will try to close out the first half of the Southern Conference schedule on a winning note when the Paladins host the first place Samford Bulldogs in a 7 p.m. clash presented by BMW on Wednesday at Timmons Arena.

The Paladins (15-6, 6-2 SoCon) claimed a 96-82 victory at instate rival Wofford on Sunday afternoon behind a career-high 26 points and eight rebounds from sophomore
JP Pegues. Tied at 60-60 in the second half, Furman used late runs of 13-2 and 9-0 to pull away from the Terriers.
The victory marked Furman's second straight win in Spartanburg, S.C., and third straight win overall versus the Terriers. Furman's 96 points were its most in a game at Wofford since a 109-86 triumph in Spartanburg during the 1969-70 campaign.
Wednesday's matchup will be the 34
th all-time meeting between Samford and Furman in a series which dates back to a 25-21 Paladin victory at the SIAA Tournament in March of 1926. Furman holds a 23-10 series lead and downed the Bulldogs 71-68 in the last meeting on March 6, 2022, in the SoCon Men's Basketball Championship semifinals in Asheville, N.C. The Paladins and Bulldogs split last season's regular season home-and-home series with Furman winning 81-49 in Greenville before falling 83-75 in Birmingham, Ala.
After losing seven straight games to end the non-conference schedule, Samford (14-7, 8-0 SoCon) has won its last eight to grab the SoCon lead. Senior forward Logan Dye leads the Bulldogs averaging 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds while junior forward Jermaine Marshall has accounted for 11.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Following Wednesday's tilt, Furman travels to the Greensboro Coliseum to face the UNC Greensboro Spartans on Sunday at 3 p.m.
