Paladins Tip-Off New Year On Wednesday Night Versus The Citadel

Tickets Are Available At Timmons Arena Box Office, Online At FurmanPaladins.com

Greenville, S.C. – Furman tips off the new year on Wednesday night when it renews its Southern Conference rivalry with The Citadel at Timmons Arena. Wednesday's game is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The Paladins, 10-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, will look to bounce back from a 79-67 setback at Western Carolina on Saturday afternoon. Junior Garrett Hien netted a career-high 20 points and fifth-year senior Mike Bothwell totaled 18 for the Paladins, but the Catamounts erased a nine-point deficit to snap a 13-game skid versus Furman.

Wednesday's game marks the 218th meeting between Furman and The Citadel, the Paladins' most frequent opponent. Furman holds a 130-87 series lead, has won eight straight versus the Bulldogs, and 12 of the last 13 meetings. Last season, the Paladins captured a 102-83 victory in Greenville before capping the regular season with a 94-59 verdict in Charleston, S.C.

The Paladins continued to possess a potent offensive attach that ranks 22nd nationally in points per game (81.7), fifth in assists per game (19.5), eighth in effective field goal percentage, and 19th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.48). Despite a rough outing last Saturday, Furman has posted a +3.1 rebounding margin. When Furman has struggled, defense has often been the culprit as opponents have shot 46.6% against the Paladins, including 37.6% from three-point range.

The Citadel enters Wednesday's game at 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the SoCon following a loss to Samford this past weekend. The Bulldogs, who welcomed the return of Ed Conroy as head coach this past offseason, opened SoCon play with a victory over Chattanooga at McAlister Fieldhouse.

Fans can listen to Wednesday's game on 97.7 FM, 1330 AM, and through the Audacy app with Dan Scott and Tom Van Hoy on the call. Tickets for the Furman-Citadel game are available at FurmanPaladins.com. Furman's Season Swishes ticket packages are also available by clicking here.

Following Wednesday's game, Furman travels to ETSU on January 7 and Mercer on January 11 before hosting UNC Greensboro at Timmons on Saturday, January 14.
