Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team tips off its 2023-24 season on Monday night at Timmons Arena when the Paladins play host to North Greenville at 7 p.m.
Monday's game, sponsored by KW Beverage, will be streamed live on ESPN+. Links for the live stream and live statistics can be found at FurmanPaladins.com. Dan Scott and Tom Van Hoy will handle the radio call on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM/1330 AM and via the Audacy app.
Fans are encouraged to be in their seats early as Furman will unveil its new championship banners and present the Paladins with their Southern Conference championship rings beginning at 6:45 p.m. The 2022-23 Paladins posted a school-record 28 wins en route to a SoCon regular season title, their first SoCon Tournament crown and NCAA berth since 1980, and the school's first NCAA Tournament victory since 1974.
Bob Richey, now in his seventh season as Furman's head coach, returns seven of the top nine scorers, including three starters, from last year's squad and welcomes a talented group of newcomers this season. Furman was tabbed to repeat as SoCon champions by the league coaches and media last month while redshirt-senior
Marcus Foster and junior
JP Pegues were selected to the preseason All-SoCon team.
The Paladins hold a 5-0 lead in the all-time series versus North Greenville and placed six players in double figures to down the Crusaders, 91-55, in last season's opener. Both coaches will be facing their alma mater as Richey is a 2006 North Greenville graduate and NGU's Chad Lister, father of former Paladin guard
Rett Lister, graduated from Furman in 1995.
