Furman Set To Host Anderson In Saturday Non-Conference Finale

Tip-Off Set For 2 P.M.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman Paladins go in search of their 11th consecutive home victory when they host the Anderson Trojans in the non-conference finale at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Timmons Arena.

Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and fans can listen to the action on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM in Greenville, on 97.1 FM and 1490 AM in Spartanburg, or via the Audacy app. Links for the video stream, audio feed, and live statistics are available at FurmanPaladins.com.

Tickets are available for Saturday's game and can be purchased online at FurmanPaladins.com. Fans can also purchase a SoCon Super Weekend Pack. The package, available for just $60, includes a ticket to each of the Paladins' six Southern Conference weekend home games, beginning with a clash versus ETSU on January 13.

Furman, idle since a 76-61 triumph over Presbyterian on December 19, enters Saturday's final non-conference contest at 6-6 on the season. The preseason Southern Conference favorites and defending league champions are currently ranked No. 134 in the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings and their non-conference schedule ranks as the second toughest among the 10 league members.

Redshirt senior Marcus Foster, who has missed Furman's last four games due to a knee injury, leads the Paladins averaging 19.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. In his absence, junior guard JP Pegues has led the Paladins in scoring at 18.4 points per game and currently ranks second in the SoCon dishing out 5.8 assists per contest. Fellow junior Alex Williams and PJay Smith Jr. have contributed 15.6 and 11.4 points per game, respectively, while senior forward Garrett Hien has posted 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds a night, including 19 points and 11 boards in the win over the Blue Hose last time out.

Furman's offensive production has been outstanding during non-conference play, despite the loss of its leading scorer on December 2 at Princeton. The Paladins have scored an average of 85.6 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and dishing out 18.6 assists per game.

Saturday's game marks just the second meeting versus NCAA Division II Anderson, a member of the South Atlantic Conference. Last season, Pegues netted 20 points to lead five Paladins in double figures as Furman topped the Trojans, 106-79, at Timmons Arena. Anderson, led by former Furman assistant coach Jimmie Williams, is 5-6 on the season.

Following Saturday's game, Furman opens SoCon play on Wednesday, January 3, at UNC Greensboro before traveling to Chattanooga on Saturday, January 6.
