WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest edged out Furman, 5-2, Saturday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Paladin sophomores Jess Dawson and Sara Snyder defeated 10th-ranked Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, 7-5, at flight one doubles, and the Demon Deacons' Mia Ahmad and Casie Wooten captured flight two, 6-3, to force a decisive number three contest.  The match went to a tiebreaker, with Wake Forest's Nevena Carton and Whitley Pate clinching the point, 7-6(3), over senior Madison Dillon and freshman Luca Victoria Vocke.

Wake Forest (4-3) won in straight sets at flights one and two, but the bottom four matches all went to a third set.  At flight one, 29th-ranked Wooten defeated Schulson, 6-2, 6-2, and at number two, Brylin beat Dawson, 6-2, 6-0.

The Paladins (1-6, 1-0 SoCon) picked up victories at flights four and five.  Snyder held off Carton 6-1, 3-6, 7-5, at number four, and Dillon recorded a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 advantage over Pate at number five.

The Demon Deacons claimed the third set at both flights three and six.  At number three, Killingsworth defeated Pennings, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, and at flight six, Maddie Lynch slipped past Vocke, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. 

Furman is idle until Friday, when the Paladins entertain Florida Atlantic at 3 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.
