Slawson Garners SoCon Player Of The Week Honors

Fifth-Year Senior Averaged A Double-Double In Wins Over Chattanooga, Wofford

Greenville, S.C. – Forward Jalen Slawson has been named Southern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.
 
Recently named SoCon Player of the Month after guiding Furman to a 7-1 mark in January, Slawson picked up where he left off by leading the Paladins to a 79-58 victory over Chattanooga and 80-67 triumph over Wofford during the opening week of February. The Summerville, S.C. native averaged 15.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 4.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game this past week to help the first place Paladins up their record to 19-6 overall and 10-2 in SoCon play.
 
On Wednesday evening, Slawson notched his seventh double-double of the year with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go with six assists and four steals as Furman completed its regular season sweep of the Mocs. Three night later, the fifth-year senior connected on 7-of-10 shots to register 16 points, nine rebounds, and four more steals to guide the Paladins to their fourth consecutive win over Wofford.
 
Slawson's season line of 15.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocked shots per game has not been accomplished in NCAA Division I basketball in more than 10 years. He current ranks in the top 10 in the SoCon in points per game, field goal percentage, rebounds per game, assists per game, steals per game, free throw percentage, and assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
Furman returns to action on Wednesday at VMI. Tip-off in Lexington, Va., is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the radio broadcast on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM, 1330 AM, and via the Audacy app.
