Greenville, S.C. – Furman goes in search of its seventh consecutive victory and looks to notch its fifth 20-win season in the last six years when the Paladins visit Lexington, Va., to take on the VMI Keydets on Wednesday night.

Furman (19-6, 10-2 SoCon) claimed its sixth straight victory and maintained a share of first place in the Southern Conference with an 80-67 triumph over the Wofford Terriers on Saturday evening at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. A crowd of 6,199 watched the Paladins top Wofford for the fourth consecutive time and complete a second straight regular season home-and-home sweep of the Terriers. The crowd was the largest to watch a home Furman basketball game in school history, besting the previous record of 6,127 against South Carolina on January 14, 1970, at Greenville Memorial Auditorium.
Jalen Slawson, who was named SoCon Player of the Week on Monday, paced the Paladins with 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals while sophomore
Alex Williams poured in 15 points. The Paladins built a 19-point first half lead and weathered a Wofford run early in the second half to secure the win.
Entering Wednesday night, Furman is riding a five-game road winning streak. The Paladins are currently No. 87 in the Pomeroy Ratings and No. 88 in the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) Rankings. Since the beginning of January, head coach

th nationally averaging 82.0 points per game.
Wednesday's game marks the 106
th meeting between Furman and VMI with the Paladins holding a 68-37 series lead. The Paladins have won 12 of the last 15 meetings, including an 85-62 triumph at Timmons Arena on December 29 behind 23 points and eight boards from Williams. The Keydets, however, have claimed victories in each of the Paladins last two visits to Lexington. Furman's last triumph at Cameron Hall, an 89-73 decision, came on January 1, 2020, when
Jordan Lyons connected on 10 three-pointers to total 40 points.
VMI (6-19, 1-11 SoCon) scored a 75-69 victory at The Citadel last Thursday before dropping an 80-54 verdict in Macon, Ga., against the Mercer Bears on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Asher Woods lead the Keydets averaging 13.8 points per game.
