Paladin Men's Soccer Prepares For England Trip

Furman To Face Burnley, Crystal Palace During Visit

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team departs on Friday, March 3, for a nine-day spring break trip to England with Vertex Soccer.

The Paladins will tour both Manchester and London during their trip and play friendlies against Burnley's U21 team on Tuesday, March 7, and against Crystal Palace on Friday, March 10. Furman will also train with Steve Holland, assistant manager of the England National Team.

"Sam Craven and Vertex have become a part of the Furman soccer family," said Paladin head coach Doug Allison. "This is our second trip with Vertex and they do such a professional job that we wanted to use their services again."

Coach Allison and the Paladins will have the opportunity to meet with mentor Osian Roberts, the assistant manager for English Premier League side Crystal Palace, during the visit. Roberts earned United Soccer Coaches All-American honors with the Paladins and was named Southern Conference Player of the Year in 1986 and 1988.

The Paladins are slated to return to the United States on March 12 and will host Charlotte (March 18, 4 p.m.) and Presbyterian (March 28, 7 p.m.) in spring matches before holding their annual Alumni Match on April 1 at Stone Stadium.
