Greenville, S.C. – Furman opens the 2023 Southern Conference softball season this weekend when it travels to Cullowhee, N.C. to face Western Carolina in a three-game series at the Catamount Softball Complex.
The series gets underway with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday while Sunday's series finale is also slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch. All three games are scheduled to be streamed live on ESPN+. Links for the live streams and live statistics will be available at FurmanPaladins.com.
Furman holds a 38-19 record in 57 previous meetings versus the Catamounts and has won each of the last four encounters. Last season, the Paladins swept the three-game regular season series versus Western Carolina before eliminating the Catamounts from the SoCon Tournament with an 8-5 verdict.
Entering league play this weekend, Furman is 7-18 on the season. South Carolina scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 10-0 victory over Furman on Wednesday night. Western Carolina is 9-12 on the year following a doubleheader sweep of Gardner-Webb on Tuesday.
The Paladins return home to Pepsi Stadium on Wednesday, March 29, to host USC Upstate in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
