Greenville, S.C. – Heavy rains have forced the cancelation of Furman softball's series finale versus UNC Greensboro, which was scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday at Pepsi Stadium.
Furman (14-22, 6-2 SoCon) swept Thursday's doubleheader versus the Spartans with a pair of come-from-behind victories that propelled Furman into a first-place tie in the Southern Conference standings.
The Paladins took game one 5-4 by rallying with two runs in the bottom of the ninth to erase a 4-3 deficit. In the nightcap, Furman built a 7-2 lead only to see UNCG score six times in the top of the seventh to pull ahead. The Paladins got a solo homer from
Kiley Perry, her second of the game, to tie the score and
Alex Rose Molinar raced home with the winning run on
Chrissy Fleming's walk-off triple.
The Paladins return to action when they travel to face College of Charleston in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
