GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman head women's tennis coach Michelle Dasso announced today the hiring of Grant Esposito as the team's new assistant coach.
"Grant's passion for the sport was transparent from our initial conversation," said Dasso. "I am thrilled he is joining the Furman family and have no doubt he will add tremendous value to our program."
A native of Union City, Ohio, Esposito served as a volunteer assistant for the Georgia women's team during the 2022-23 season. The Bulldogs, who reached the Final Four of the NCAA Championship, won the 2023 SEC Championship and finished as runner-up in the ITA National Indoor Championship.
Prior to his time at Georgia, Esposito was a volunteer assistant with the Mississippi State men's team, where he provided on-court coaching during collegiate matches and coached individuals at professional tournaments. In 2022, the Bulldogs made an appearance in the NCAA team championship.
Esposito, who has private coaching experience at the Beck Tennis Academy in Watkinsville, Ga., and at the Esposito Tennis Academy, was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Indiana Wesleyan, after graduation. During his season as an assistant, Esposito helped guide the Wildcats to a 31-4 overall record and a perfect Crossroads League mark. In addition to claiming the 2021 Crossroads League regular season and tournament championships, Indiana Wesleyan reached the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships and attained a No. 8 national ranking.
As a collegiate player, Esposito was a three-time All-Crossroads League selection at Indiana Wesleyan. He was ranked ninth nationally in doubles by the ITA and was selected as an honorable mention NAIA All-American in 2019. Esposito won the NAIA ITA Midwest Regional doubles championship and received the 2019 ITA Regional and National Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
A 2020 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan, Esposito graduated magna cum laude with a degree in sports management and was a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete.
