Greenville, S.C. – Christian Kraus scored on a header in the 16
th minute to send the Furman men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over North Florida in the Paladins' final preseason contest on Friday evening at Stone Stadium.
Senior
Dylan Lane played a pass to
Alfredo Diaz-Santillan on the left wing and the Charlotte, N.C., native served a cross towards the far post where Kraus rose above the defense to score on a header inside the right post at the 15:34 mark.
"It's great to get the win and another shutout," said Paladin head coach
Doug Allison, now in his 29
th season at Furman. "We are thankful for all the freshmen who came out tonight to watch us. Best of luck to Derek Marinatos (UNF head coach and former Furman assistant) and his team. We hope they have a great season."
Sophomore
Cameron Maung-Maung and freshman
Aaron Salinas each played 45 minutes in goal and notched a save to lead Furman to the shutout victory.
North Florida managed an 8-6 edge in total shots with both teams registering two shots on goal.
The Paladins kick off the regular season on Friday, August 25, with a 5 p.m. match versus Elon at Duke University.
