WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Sophomore Audrey Ryu (-2) tied for fifth Sunday to lead the Furman women's golf team in the final round of the 22nd Annual Landfall Tradition, which was hosted by UNC Wilmington at the par 72, 6,1978 yard Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
A native of Dublin, Ohio, Ryu teed off on No. 12 in the shotgun start and played a flawless back nine with birdies on No. 16 and No.18. After the turn, she birdied No. 3 and finished the round with a 2-under 70 to pace the Paladins. Ryu finished four strokes behind individual medalists Lauren Olivares Leon (-6) of N.C. State and Lottie Woad (-6) of Florida State, who each posted three-round totals of 210. Â
Freshman Jenna Madden (+10) carded a 74 with a team-high four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 to tie for 54th, while junior Liza Lapeyre (+14) closed out the tournament by shooting a 76 with a birdie on No. 18, tying for 75th. Â
Freshman Eva Ringwald (+17) finished 79 after posting a 76 with birdies on No. 6 and No. 18, and senior Alise Knudson (+18) recorded a 74 with back to back birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to tie for 80th.Â
No. 11 Florida State (-2) won the tournament by one stroke over No. 20 Duke (-2). No. 13 North Carolina (+1) finished third, and No. 18 Ole Miss (+2) took fourth place. Furman (+37) finished 15th, ahead of Power 4 opponent Penn State (+61).Â
The Landfall Tradition concludes the 2024 fall season for the Paladins. Furman will open the 2025 spring season at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Feb., 2-4, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
