DALLAS, Texas -- Furman's Harris Barth (-7) shot a 4-under 68 to move into a tie for seventh Monday in the second day of the Trinity Forest Invitational, which is being hosted by SMU at the par 72, 7,617 yard Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
A junior from Atlanta, Ga., Barth teed off on No. 1 and eagled the par-5 No.2. He notched three birdies on the front to turn at 2-under then added three additional birdies on the back for a team-high six birdied in the round. Barth is five strokes behind individual leader Zach Little (-12) of UNLV, who leads the field with a two-round total of 68-64=132.
Junior Clark Akers (-11) carded a 71 with four birdies and is tied for 11th entering Tuesday's second round. He is tied for second with a 2.75 soring average on the par 3s. Senior Trey Diehl (+2) recorded a 2-under 70 with five birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 16 and No. 17, to move into a tie for 50th.
Freshman Ludvig Josefsson (+4) posted a 73 with birdies on No. 7 and No. 16 to tie for 59th, while senior Will Morlan (+8) tallied a 77 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 4 and is in 82nd place. Â
UNLV (-26) took a one-stroke lead over Southern Cal (-25) after Monday's second round. Host SMU (-23) sits in third, followed by Loyola Marymount (-19) in fourth. San Francisco (-13) completes the top five. The Paladins (-8) were 6-under in round two to move into seventh place, ahead of Power 5 N.C. State (+1), among others. Â
Furman ranks fourth with a 4.02 scoring average on the par 4s.Â
The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday beginning at 9:25 a.m. ET. Furman will tee off on No. 1 starting at 9:30 a.m. ET and will play in a group with Louisiana Tech and Texas Rio Grande Valley. Admission is free and fans are welcome. Results and live tournament scoring are available via https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/233230/scoring/team.
