WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. – After starting the day in fifth place, Furman (+8) surged into second Tuesday in round two of the 2026 Southern Conference Championship at the par 71, 6,766 yard Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, S.C.
Three Paladins rank among the top 14, including sophomore David Oliver IV (+1) of Pageland, S.C., who recorded two birdies on each side and finished the day with a 1-over 72 to move into a tie for tenth. He enters Wednesday's final round six strokes behind individual leader Nathan Todd (-5) of Mercer, who boasts a two-day total of 66-71=137.
Seniors Harris Barth (+3) and Clark Akers (+3) are tied for 14th. Barth paced Furman with an even 71 and a team-high six birdies, while Akers carded a 75 with a birdie on No. 12. Sophomore Ludvig Josefsson (+7) recorded a 78 with three birdies and is in 25th place, while senior Zach Frazer (+8) sits in 30th place after notching a 73 with a birdie on No. 6 in round two.
Chattanooga (-3) holds an 11-stroke lead over the Paladins (+8) with 18 holes to play. Western Carolina (+9) is in third place, just one shot behind Furman, while Mercer (+10) and UNCG (+11) complete the top five.
Due to predicted inclement weather in the West Columbia area, the final round of the tournament will start at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with twosomes starting off No. 1 and No. 10. The Paladins will begin on hole No. 1 at 11:20 a.m. and will play in a group with Chattanooga in the tournament's second round.
The team winner of the SoCon Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional, while the individual champion will also earn automatic regional qualification.
