DALLAS, Texas -- Furman's Clark Akers (-10) birdied four of his last six holes to tie for sixth Tuesday to conclude play at the Trinity Forest Invitational, which was hosted by SMU at the par 72, 7,617 yard Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.

A junior from Nashville, Tenn., Akers entered the final round tied for 11th.  He birdied No. 2 and No. 3 to turn at 1-under then added four birdies down the stretch to card a 4-under 68 with a team-high six birdies, tying for third in the field with 18 birdies for the 54 holes.  Akers, who ranked third with a 2.83 scoring average on the par 3s and fourth at 3.87 on the par 4s, finished the tournament four strokes behind individual champion Zachary Kingsland (-14) of SMU, who posted a three-day total of 69-67-66=202.

Junior Harris Barth (-8) shot a 1-under 71 with four birdies to tie for 11th after tying for the tournament lead with a 2.75 scoring average on the par 3s.  Senior Trey Diehl (-1) fired a 3-under 69 with five birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, to move up 15 spots, tying for 34th. 

Freshman Ludvig Josefsson (+6) recorded a 74 with four birdies, including three birdies in five holes from No. 12 through No. 16, to tie for 60th, and senior Will Morlan (+8) shot even par with three birdies from No. 7 through No. 10 to tie for 71st. 

UNLV (-34) won the tournament by two strokes over Loyola Marymount (-32), with host SMU (-30) taking third place.  Southern Cal (-26) place fourth, followed by Louisiana (-18) in fifth, and the Paladins (-16) in sixth place.  

Furman tied for fourth with a 3.10 scoring average on the par 3s and finished fourth with a 4.01 scoring average on the par 4s.  The Paladins were fifth with both 59 birdies and 159 pars. 

The Paladins will compete at High Point's Qubein Cup, Oct. 14-15, in Greensboro, N.C.
