Box Score DURHAM, N.C. — Aysia Hinton bottomed out a 14-foot jump shot with three seconds remaining on the clock to lift North Carolina Central past Furman, 77-76, in women's basketball action Monday afternoon at McDougald-McLendon Arena.

Hinton's game winning basket sealed the comeback for North Carolina Central (2-12), which trailed 76-72 in the final minute after erasing an 18-point third quarter deficit.

Shakiria Foster scored 18 of her game high 24 points in the second half to pace NCCU, and Kyla Bryant tallied 22, including 15 in the final two periods.

Raina McGowens' layup with 54 seconds to go put Furman (9-6) up, 76-72, but the Eagles answered 12 seconds later with a Foster 3-pointer to trim the lead to 76-75.  The Paladins ran down the ensuing possession clock that ended with a Tate Walters missed 3-pointer with 13 seconds to go.  Following a pair of timeouts, the Eagles in-bounded the ball at mid-court, and Morgan Callahan fed Bryant, who dribbled to the right of foul line before connecting with the go-ahead jump shot with 3.4 seconds remaining.

Furman's final possession ended when Walters' inbound pass attempt to Kate Johnson in the paint sailed out of bounds.

The Paladins appeared in control of the contest after expanding on a 34-29 halftime lead to go up 52-34 following a McGowens layup at the 4:17 mark.

NCCU responded, however, with a 9-0 run over the next minute and half to trim Furman's lead to 52-43, and the Eagles finished off a 19-3 spurt on the strength of 3-pointers by Roster and Bryant to cut it to 55-51 with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter.

Johnson led Furman with 17 points and nine rebounds, followed by Sydney Ryan with 15 points.  Tate Walters finished with 11 points for the Paladins, who were forced to play without starting junior guard Niveya Henley after the redshirt junior exited the game in the second quarter due to injury.

The Eagles, who competed with only seven players in uniform, blistered the nets at a 50.9 shooting clip, connecting on 28-of-55 attempts, including 8-of-18 from 3-point range.  NCCU drained 11 of 15 shots (73.3%) in the fourth quarter.

Furman claimed a 38-27 edge in rebounding, but 19 Paladin turnovers proved costly, leading to 20 points by the Eagles.
