Men's Basketball To Face VMI Wednesday Night At Timmons Arena

Tip-Off Scheduled For 7 P.M. On ESPN+

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team returns home on Wednesday night to host Southern Conference foe VMI for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Timmons Arena.

Wednesday's SoCon tilt, presented by Hale's Jewelers, will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the action on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM in Greenville, on 97.1 FM and 1490 AM in Spartanburg, or via the Audacy app. Links for the video stream, audio feed, and live statistics are available at FurmanPaladins.com.

Last time out, Furman rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final 7:15 to claim a 65-63 victory over East Tennessee State at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn., on Saturday night. The Paladins hit on 12 of their final 13 field goal attempts and junior JP Pegues drained four free throw attempts in the final 44 seconds, including a pair of go-ahead free throws with 1.8 seconds left, to help complete the regular season sweep of the Bucs. Pegues finished with a team-high 15 points while senior Marcus Foster added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Foster leads the Paladins averaging 19.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Pegues has contributed 16.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season.

Wednesday's contest marks the 108th meeting between Furman and VMI with the Paladins holding a 70-37 series lead. The Paladins captured their fourth straight triumph over the Keydets with a 100-60 victory at Cameron Hall in Lexington, Va., on January 17 behind 23 points from Alex Williams and 21 from Carter Whitt. The 40-point win represented Furman's largest margin of victory on the road versus a SoCon opponent since an 80-38 win at Georgia Southern during the 1995-96 campaign.

VMI comes to Greenville at 4-21 overall and 1-11 in league play. The Keydets have dropped six straight games and suffered a 102-63 loss at home versus league-leading Samford on Saturday.

Following Wednesday's game, Furman will host Chattanooga on Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Timmons Arena. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
