Men's Basketball Entertains Mercer In Saturday Regular Season Finale

Tip-off Set For 2 P.M. At Timmons Arena

Greenville, S.C. – Furman bids farewell to the "old" Timmons Arena on Saturday when it hosts Southern Conference foe Mercer in the regular season finale for both teams.

Saturday's game, presented by Ingles, is set for a 2 p.m. tip-off and will air on Nexstar affiliates throughout the region as well as ESPN+ with Pete Yanity and Dave Friedman calling the action. Fans can listen to the action on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM in Greenville, on 97.1 FM and 1490 AM in Spartanburg, or via the Audacy app. Links for the video stream, audio feed, and live statistics are available at FurmanPaladins.com.

Timmons Arena, Furman's basketball home since December of 1997, is set to undergo a $40 million renovation prior to reopening for the 2025-26 season. Fans can take advantage of Furman's $5 Finale Flash Sale to secure tickets to the historic final regular season game at Timmons.

Furman is 16-14 overall and 10-7 in SoCon play entering Saturday's rematch versus the Bears. Mercer (14-16, 7-10 SoCon) snapped an 18-game losing streak to the Paladins with a 78-69 verdict at Hawkins Arena in Macon, Ga., on February 7. Jalyn McCreary paced the Bears with 28 points and eight rebounds. Marcus Foster, who eclipsed 1,000 career points in the first meeting between the teams, led the Paladins with 19 points and nine boards.

Saturday marks the 39th meeting between the Paladins and Bears with Furman holding a 27-11 series lead. The Paladins have won each of the last eight encounters in Greenville, including a 70-67 victory in last season's regular season home finale.

Furman has already secured a first round bye in the 2024 Ingles SoCon Men's Basketball Championship, which is set for March 8-11 at the Harrah's Cherokee Center – Asheville in Asheville, N.C. The Paladins, who will occupy the No. 4 or No. 5 seed, will face either Western Carolina or Wofford in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, March 9, at 8:30 p.m.
