SUNSET, S.C. -- Furman senior Anna Morgan (-7) finished third and freshman Audrey Ryu (-5) took fourth place Sunday in the final day of the Clemson Invitational at the par 72, 6,441 yard The Reserve At Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan recorded an even 72 with a team-high three birdies on Sunday, while Ryu, who hails from Dublin, Ohio, paced the Paladins with a 70 in the final round. She notched birdies on No. 9 and No. 11 and posted 16 pars. LSU's Ingrid Lindblad (-18), the world's top amateur, decimated the field to win by 10 strokes with a three-day total of 66-67-65=198.
Senior Caroline Crumrine (+17) and freshman Kelsi Mauzy (+17) tied for 82nd. Crumrine scored a 74 with birdies on No. 12 and No. 17 in the final round, while Mauzy finished with a 76 in round three. Junior Alise Knudson (+18) finished 84th after carding an 82 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 16 in the last day of play.
No. 24 Vanderbilt (-12) won the tournament by six strokes over 17th-ranked Texas A&M (-6). No. 5 LSU (-3) finished third, followed by 18th-ranked Clemson (E) in fourth place. No. 32 Michigan State (+4) rounded out the top five. The Paladins (+14) finished 11th in the loaded field, which included 13 Power 5 programs. Furman defeated No. 41 Maryland (+16), 46th-ranked Louisville (+19), and 49th-ranked Virginia Tech (+25), among others.
The Paladins tied for third with a 3.07 scoring average on the par 3s, led by Morgan, who tied for second with a 2.75 average on the par 3s.
Furman will defend its Southern Conference title at the SoCon Championships, which will be held in Hilton Head, S.C., April 14-16.
