GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman women's basketball coach
Pierre Curtis announced today the addition of graduate transfer Bella LaChance, a 5-foot-6 guard from Vanderbilt, to the program.
LaChance is the third recruit to join the Paladins' program this week and sixth addition in Curtis' second recruiting class.
A four-year member of the Commodores' program, she earned playing time in 87 games and logged 24 starts in her Vanderbilt career. She served as a team captain this past season and helped lead the Commodores to a 23-10 campaign and first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade.
LaChance was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and was twice named to both the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District and SEC Community Service Teams.
A native of Davie, Fla., she was a three-year letterwinners at St. Thomas Acquinas High School, where she played for Oliver Berens. She scored 1,850 points in her prep career and was a two-time all-state selection who garnered 2019 9A-7A Player of the Year honors from both the Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald.
LaChance joins Raina McGowens, a two-time all-state guard from nearby Wren High School, and forward Hilary Englert from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in a trio of recruits announced by Furman this week. The Paladins inked three signs in the November signing period: guard Samaria Taylor from Knoxville, Tenn./Fulton High School, Clare Coyle, forward from Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny High School, and forward Chantelle Stuart from Ontario, Canada/Crestwood Prep.
