Furman's Trey Diehl Ties For 23rd To Lead Paladins In First Day Of Bearcat Invitational

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Furman's Trey Diehl (+2) is tied for 23rd to lead the Paladin men's golf team after Monday's two rounds of the Bearcat Invitational at the par 71, 7,279 yard Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A senior from Orlando, Fla., Diehl opened the tournament by carding a 73 with three birdies in round one then shot an even 71 with a team-high four birdies in the day's second round.  

Senior Will Morlan (+3) recorded rounds of 73 and 72 on Monday and is tied for 30th entering Tuesday's final round.  He notched consecutive birdies on No. 2 and No. 3 in round one to conclude the round with four birdies then posted birdies on No. 4 and No. 13 in round two.  Junior Harris Barth (+4) is tied for 36th after 36 holes of play.  He shot a 75 in round one then rebounded with an even 71 with three birdies in round two.  

Freshman Ludvig Josefsson (+8) fired a 2-under 69 to lead the Paladins in the opening round.  He carded a team-high five birdies with three-straight birdies from No. 4 through No. 6.  He added an 81 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 10 in the afternoon round and is tied for 80th.  Freshman Max Halflants (+10) recorded a 78 with a birdie on No. 10 in the first round and posted a 74 with three birdies, including back to back birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, in round two. 

Louisville's Sebastian Moss (-8) holds a two-stroke individual lead after scoring 65-69=134 on Monday.  

Louisville (-6) leads the team competition by four strokes heading into Tuesday's final round.  Kansas (-2) sits in second, followed by host Cincinnati (+1) in third.  Little Rock (+4) and Iowa State (+5) round out the top five.  The Paladins (+10) are tied for 11th with Middle Tennessee State (+10), ahead of SoCon foes UNCG (+12 - 13th place) and Chattanooga (+17 - 15th place). 

The 54-hole tournament will conclude with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.  Furman will tee off of No. 9 through No. 11 and will play in a group with Brigham Young, Kentucky, and Middle Tennessee State.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via https://bearcatsmgolf.leaderboardking.com/leaderboards/4625/layout_ncaa?game_id=9416.
