Furman Hosts Samford In Nationally Televised Clash Wednesday At The Well

Tip-Off Is Set For 6 P.M.

Greenville, S.C. – Furman wraps up the first half of its Southern Conference regular season schedule on Wednesday night when it hosts defending league champion Samford in a nationally televised at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
 
Wednesday's game, sponsored by Bon Secours, is set for a 6 p.m. tip-off and will air live on CBS Sports Network. Furman sports a 16-5 overall record and 4-4 league mark following its 79-74 victory at Mercer on Saturday afternoon. Nick Anderson paced the Paladins with 18 points while Eddrin Bronson matched his career-high with 16 points, and PJay Smith Jr., who sealed the game with five points in the final minute, finished with 15. Saturday's win in Macon, Ga., marked the seventh true road triumph of the campaign for Furman, which trails only UC Irvine and Central Connecticut State's eight road wins.
 
Smith leads the Paladins averaging 16.6 points per game while Anderson has poured in 12.7 per game, including 14.8 in league play. Furman has limited the opposition to 68 points per game this season and held its opponents to 29.9% shooting from three-point range. The Paladins ranks in top 25 nationally dishing out 17.2 assists per game.
 
Wednesday's game marks the 39th between the Paladins and Bulldogs with Furman holding a 26-12 series advantage. Furman claimed a 78-69 victory over Samford at Timmons Arena last season before the Bulldogs rallied for a 74-72 win in the second leg of the home-and-home series in Birmingham, Ala. Samford topped the Paladins 84-77 in the semifinal round of the SoCon Tournament en route to claiming the championship and NCAA berth.
 
Samford is 17-4 overall and leads the league with a 7-1 conference mark after downing Wofford 77-61 on Saturday.
 
Following Wednesday's clash, Furman will play its second straight game on CBS Sports Network when it faces ETSU in a 2 p.m. matchup on Sunday at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn.
