CHARLOTTE, N.C . -- Freshman Kate Bannigan finished seventh to lead the Furman women's cross country team Friday at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
Bannigan posted a time of 17:36.24 to pace the Paladins on the 5K course. Senior Emma Jones finished tenth with a time of 17:41.93, while sophomore Joiner Evans crossed the line in 18:14.16 for 25th place. Sophomore Katie Sobieraj posted a time of 18:41.29 to take 50th place, and senior Clair Garrett turned in a time of 19:33.48, finishing 100th. Sophomore Anna Graves placed 102nd at 19:35.58.Â
Northern Michigan won the meet with 39 points, followed by Catawba in second with 47 points. Host Queens finished third with 131 points. Furman scored 162 points for sixth place.Â
The Paladins will compete at Wisconsin's Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 17.
