GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's golf team will entertain 14 teams at the 54th Annual Furman Intercollegiate Presented by Ezelle/Hines Properties Saturday & Sunday at the par-71, 7,131-yard Furman University Golf Club.  The tournament, which was traditionally held in March, is being contested in the fall for the fourth-consecutive year.

Round one of the 54-hole tournament tees off on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.  Round two will follow immediately upon completion of round one.  Final round action is scheduled to begin Sunday with teams teeing off on No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 8:20 a.m.

This year's field includes the host Paladins, Campbell, Davidson, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia State, High Point, James Madison, Mercer, Richmond, Stetson, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech, Western Kentucky, Winthrop, and Wofford.

The Paladin lineup will include seniors Harris Barth, Clark Akers, and Zach Frazer; sophomore Ludvig Josefsson; and junior Fisher Kennedy.  Redshirt sophomore Walter Anderson, freshmen Cameron Reed and Benton Manly, and sophomore David Oliver IV will compete as individuals.

On Saturday, Furman will tee off of holes No. 1 through No. 3 and will play in groups with players from Virginia Tech and Campbell.  Paladin individuals will tee off of No. 16 through No. 18.

"We are again so proud to be able to host the 55th Furman Intercollegiate, which is one of the longest-running college golf tournaments with so much history," said Paladin head coach Matt Davidson.  "This is really one of the few remaining tournaments on a university campus course.  The course will be in great shape for everyone, and the field is strong coming this year. This is obviously an event we have circled on the calendar every year, and we really just can't wait to get started on Saturday."

The Paladins finished as runner-up by two strokes at last year's Furman Intercollegiate.  No. 27 Texas A&M set a new tournament record with a three-round total of 831, breaking the former of 832, which was set by Furman in 2023.  The Paladins placed three players among the top eight, including Barth (-6) and Akers (-6), who tied for fifth.

The Furman University Golf Course was designed by Richard K. Webel of Long Island, N.Y., and Walter Cosby, superintendent of grounds and greens at the Greenbriar Hotel and Golf Resort.  The course was redesigned by Kris Spence in 2010.   Since the late 1970s, the course has been the site of two outstanding college tournaments, the Furman Intercollegiate and the Lady Paladin Invitational. In addition, the course hosts a number of local and state tournaments.

Through the years, a number of familiar names have played the course and participated in the Furman Intercollegiate. Past winners include Curtis Strange, Jay Haas, Mark Calcavecchia, Billy Andrade, Matt Kuchar and Furman's own Brad Faxon.  LPGA stars Betsy King, Beth Daniel, Sherri Turner and Dottie Pepper, plus Faxon and current Furman men's golf head coach and former Korn Ferry Tour player Davidson all played their collegiate golf on the course as members of the Furman golf teams.
