Bustamante Earns Honorable Mention Honors

Greenville, S.C. – Furman's Luke Hutzell was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Paladins into the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinals this past weekend.

Hutzell, a native of Dacula, Ga., scored the equalizing goal for the Paladins late in the first half and assisted on a second-half goal as Furman played to a 3-3 draw against Hofstra in the Sweet Sixteen before advancing to the quarterfinals on penalty kicks, 5-4. His fourth goal of the season came just 36 seconds before the halftime break.

Fellow sophomore Wilfer Bustamante was an honorable mention team of the week choice after scoring the go-ahead goal in the second half off an assist from Hutzell. The J.L. Mann High School product and Greenville, S.C., native also converted his spot kick in the penalty shootout.

Furman (15-1-5) is set face No. 8 seed Portland in the Elite Eight on Friday, December 5. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. EST at Merlo Field in Portland, Ore. Click here to purchase tickets.
