Men's Basketball Celebrates Senior Day On Saturday Versus VMI

Tip-Off Set For Noon At Bon Secours Wellness Arena

Greenville, S.C. – Furman will honor seniors Nick Anderson, Garrett Hien, Tyrese Hughey, and PJay Smith Jr. prior to Saturday's Southern Conference matchup versus the VMI Keydets at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Tip-off for Saturday's game, sponsored by Smith Dray Line, is slated for 12:00 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase at FurmanPaladins.com. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and fans can listen to the action on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM in Greenville, 97.1 FM and 1490 AM in Spartanburg, and via the Audacy app. Links for the broadcast, live audio, and live statistics are available at FurmanPaladins.com.

The Paladins (20-8, 8-7 SoCon) are looking to continue their late-season momentum after completing a regular season sweep of Samford with an 80-72 victory in Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday night. The win gave the Paladins their 14th 20-win season in school history and seventh in the last nine seasons. Smith paced the Paladins with a career-high 32 points while Cooper Bowser added 16 as Furman topped Samford for the 11th time in the last 14 meetings.

Entering Saturday, Furman holds a one-game lead on VMI for the sixth and final first round bye in the SoCon Men's Basketball Championship and is just one game behind ETSU and Wofford, who are tied for fourth place with three regular season games remaining. The Paladins are going for a regular season split with the Keydets after VMI claimed a 91-82 decision in Lexington, Va., in the first meeting between the schools last month. Smith and Charles Johnston scored 18 points apiece for Furman in the first meeting.

Furman holds a 71-38 series lead versus the Keydets and has won eight straight series meetings played in Greenville. The Paladins have won 15 of the last 19 overall encounters with VMI.

Following Saturday's game, Furman concludes its regular season home schedule on Wednesday night when it hosts The Citadel Bulldogs at the Well.
