Goldwait, Perry Earn All-Tournament Honors

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Avery Arwood tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout to lead the SIU Edwardsville Cougars to a 4-0 victory over Furman on the final day of the T-Mobile Crimson Classic Sunday at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. 
 
Arwood struck out four Paladins and issued just one walk to improve to 3-4 in the circle as the Cougars upped their record to 7-9 on the season. Furman slipped to 7-14.
 
Anna Henderson, who led SIUE with a pair of hits, cracked a leadoff home run to begin the top of the second inning to open the scoring. The Cougars added two more runs in the third inning with the benefit of only one hit as Furman issued a walk, allowed two stolen bases, and committed three errors.
 
Lauralee Scott (2-4) absorbed the loss for Furman after surrendering four runs on five hits over seven innings. The Greenwood, S.C., native struck out five and walked just one. Caitlin Goldwait and Katie Peeler each registered a double in the loss.
 
Goldwait and first baseman Kiley Perry were selected to the All-Crimson Classic team.
 
Furman travels to McWhorter Stadium to face the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before returning home to host the Charlotte 49ers at Pepsi Stadium on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Tuesday's game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra while Wednesday's contest will be available on ESPN+.
