GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The 38th-ranked Furman women's tennis team will host No. 42 Rice and Brown this week. The Paladins will face off against Rice Sunday at noon and Brown Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University.

The Paladins improved to 11-2 overall and are 2-0 in SoCon play after defeating then 34th-ranked Yale, 4-2 this week.
Senior
Marissa Pennings is 9-1 overall in singles to lead the team, while seniors
Sara Snyder and
Ellie Schulson are 9-3 at flight one doubles, and senior
Jess Dawson and sophomore
Macy Hitchcock boast a 9-2 mark at flight two doubles.
Rice is 12-4 overall and is ranked 42nd in this week's national poll after defeating 69th-ranked Columbia, 5-2, last Saturday then holding off No. 73 Memphis, 4-3, on Friday. The Owls are currently riding a seven-match winning streak with key victories over UTSA, Princeton, and Columbia. Rice won the only previous meeting against Furman, 8-1, when the teams squared off in 1989.
Brown holds a 7-5 record after defeating Massachusetts, 4-3, on Saturday. The Bears will face Davidson before coming to Greenville on Monday. Brown put together a four-match winning streak in March with wins against Boston University, Rhode Island, and Fordham. The Paladins won the most recent match up, 6-1, in 2019 in Greenville, S.C. The Bears lead the all-time series, 2-1.
