BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- No. 42 Furman extended its winning streak to five matches with a 5-2 victory at Austin Peay State Tuesday at the Bowling Green Indoor Tennis Center in Bowling Green, Ky. 

The Governors won two of three doubles matches to score first.  Paladin senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock won a quick 6-1 decision over Sophia Baranov and Luca Bohlen at flight two, then Austin Peay's Asia Fontana and Elena Thiel claimed a 6-1 victory versus seniors Alexa Griffith and Grace Thomas at number three to even the slate, setting up a decisive contest at flight one.  Yu-Hua Cheng and Denise Torrealba defeated 78th-ranked seniors Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder, 7-5, at number one for the point. 

In singles action, Furman won five of six singles matches.  The Paladins won in straight sets at flights two, three, and five to take a 3-1 lead in the match.  Dawson topped Torrealba, 6-0, 6-4, at flight two, and senior Marissa Pennings recorded a 6-3, 7-5 advantage versus Fontana at number three.  At number five, Hitchcock blew past Pauline Bruns, 6-2, 6-0.  

Matches at flights one and six went to a third set.  Thomas came from behind to beat Cheng, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch the match at flight six, and at number one, Snyder held off Baranov, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Austin Peay State scored at flight five singles, where Bohlen eked past Schulson, 7-5, 7-6(6), 1-0(12-10)

The Paladins (10-2, 2-0 SoCon) will return home to entertain Yale on March 16 at 10 a.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
