Furman Will Travel To NCAA Regional In Norman

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's golf team will take part in the NCAA Norman Regional at Jimmie Austin Oklahoma University Golf Course in Norman, Okla., May 5-7, as announced Wednesday by the NCAA Division I Golf Committee.

The Paladins, who are the No. 11 seed in Norman, are part of an 12-team regional field that will battle for a top-five finish and a berth in the 30-team NCAA Championship, which will be held May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.  The Norman Regional field includes four of the top 25 teams in the country led by top-ranked Stanford.  No. 12 Northwestern, 13th-ranked North Carolina, and No. 24 Michigan State will compete in Norman.

"I am excited to go to Oklahoma," said Furman head coach Jeff Hull.  "We have been to Oklahoma State a few times, but not to Norman.  The golf course is very good, and obviously, the best team in the country is going to be there, so we are looking forward to the opportunity to compete there."

Furman, which secured the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by capturing its 21st SoCon Championship last week at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, S.C., will make its 25th NCAA Regional appearance.  The Paladins appeared in 17-straight regionals from 1993, when the regional format began, until 2010.

The Furman team finished 10th at the NCAA Athens Regional in 2023, and Anna Morgan tied for tenth.  At last year's NCAA Auburn Regional, Morgan and Audrey Ryu competed as individuals, where Morgan tied for 21st and Ryu tied for 46th.

The Paladin lineup for the regional will include Ryu, senior Alise Knudson, sophomore Kelsi Mauzy, and freshmen Jenna Madden and Eva Ringwald.
