CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Furman's Audrey Ryu (+2) carded a 1-over 73 Sunday to advance to the final round of stroke play at the 2025 NCAA Championship, which is being contested this weekend at the par-72, 6,330 yard Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
A sophomore from Dublin, Ohio, Ryu teed off on No. 10 and recorded birdies on No. 11 and No. 15, turning at 1-under par. She added a final birdie on No. 9 to finish the round tied for 27th.Â
A field of 30 teams and six individuals played 54 holes of stroke play over the course of three days, concluding Sunday. The top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will play one additional round of stroke play on Monday, and an individual champion will be crowned at the conclusion of Monday's round. Â
Ryu will tee off on No. 10 at 4:02Â p.m. ET in the final round and will play in a group with Alenka Navarro of Kansas State and Ohio State's Kary Hollenbaugh.
Stanford (-23) smoked the field for the second-straight day, shooting 18-under to lead the team event, while Maria Jose Marin (-9) of Arkansas holds a one-stroke advantage in the individual competition after posting rounds of 70-72-65=207.
Ryu reached the NCAA Championship after tying for seventh at the NCAA Normal Regional. At last month's SoCon Championship, she established a new league championship record with an opening-round 66 and went on to capture individual medalist honors. Ryu led the league with 72.5 stroke average over 31 rounds this season to earn her second-consecutive all-conference scroll. In 11 events during the 2024-25 season, she recorded five top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the Evie Odom Invitational and a fifth-place finish at the Landfall Tradition. Â
A concert pianist and a biology major with a 4.0 GPA, Ryu, who captured her first career individual win at the SoCon tournament, was also honored with the 2025 SoCon Pinnacle Award, given annually to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA on the championship team. Â
