Clemson Transfer Has Three Years Of Eligibility Remaining

Greenville, S.C. – Asa Thomas, a transfer from Clemson, has joined the Furman men's basketball roster for the 2025-26 season, it was announced recently.

A 6-foot-7 wing, Thomas joins the Paladins with three years of eligibility following a two-year stint in Clemson, S.C. The Lake Forest, Ill., native sat out his freshman season in 2023-24 after undergoing shoulder surgery. As a redshirt freshman for the Tigers this past season, he appeared in 12 games while shooting 50% from behind the arc.

Thomas was a consensus two-time All-State selection as a prep standout at Lake Forest High School and twice earned North Suburban Conference Player of the Year honors. He finished his high school career with 1,746 points, second most in Lake Forest history, and drained a program record 295 three-point baskets. Prior to arriving at Clemson, he led Illinois Wolves (AAU) with 15.1 points per game on the Under Armor Association circuit while ranking as the UAA's most efficient scorer averaging a circuit-best 1.07 points per possession.

Part of a Clemson squad that posted a 27-7 overall record and 18-2 ACC mark this past season, Thomas joins a Paladin squad that returns nine letterwinners from a 2024-25 team that fashioned a 25-10 record and reached the NIT.

The Paladins return five players with starting experience from a 2024-25 squad that posted a 25-10 record, reached the finals of the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Championship, and received an at-large bid to the NIT.
