Four Paladins Honored By GCAA As Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman juniors Clark Akers and Harris Barth and seniors Trey Diehl and Will Morlan and have been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.

All-America Scholars must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has participated in 50% of their team's competitive rounds.  Recipients must have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and have maintained a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.  A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.  For the 2025-26 season, 556 NCAA Division I athletes from 190 schools earned the honor.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Akers is a psychology major with a 3.55 GPA.  He posted a 72.3 stroke average over 30 rounds this season and recorded six top-20 finishes in 10 events, including four top-10 finishes.  An All-SoCon selection, Akers tied for fifth at the Furman Intercollegiate and finished 10-under par at both the Trinity Forest Invitational, where he tied for sixth, and the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, where he tied for seventh after opening the tournament with a 65. 

Barth, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., holds a 3.97 GPA in economics and claimed his second-consecutive All-SoCon citation after leading Furman and ranking second in the SoCon with a 70.9 stroke average over 36 rounds.  He tallied five top-10 finishes in 12 events and paced the Paladins by tying for third at the Gopher Invitational.  Barth went on to tie for fifth at both the Furman Intercollegiate, where he finished at 6-under par, and at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, where he posted a 9-under par 69-70-68=207.  He tied for ninth to lead Furman at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional.

Diehl, who hails from Orlando, Fla., boasts a 3.73 GPA in business administration.  He recorded a 72.5 stroke average over 33 rounds as a senior and notched two top-10 finishes.  Diehl opened the season by tying for tenth to lead the Paladins at the Bearcat Invitational then finished 5-under par with scores of 68-70-70=802 to tie for eighth at the Furman Intercollegiate.  

A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Morlan holds a 3.56 GPA in business administration.  He earned his second career all-conference scroll after ranking second for Furman and fourth in the league with a 71.9 stroke average over 36 rounds.  Morlan notched six top-20 finishes in 12 events, including a fourth-place finish at the Gators Invitational, where he posted rounds of 66-70-69=205 to conclude the tournament at 5-under par.  He tied for seventh at the Gopher Invitational and tenth at the Seminole Intercollegiate.

"Congratulations to Will, Trey, Clark, and Harris," said Paladin head coach Matt Davidson.  "This award really is the result of a lot of dedication and hard work in practice, competition, and in the classroom.  It isn't easy to balance it all and be able to excel academically and athletically.  I am very proud of how our guys did that at an elite level last year."
