CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Furman senior Harris Barth (-9) fired a final-round 68 to win the individual championship Tuesday at the Bearcat Invitational at the par 71, 7,279 yard Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Barth, a native of Atlanta, Ga., teed off on No. 16 in Tuesday's shotgun start and birdied three of his first four holes. He eagled the par-5 No. 4 then parred 10 of his last 11 holes to win the tournament by three strokes over John Daly II (-6) of Arkansas.
The victory, which was the first of Barth's career, marked the first Paladin individual win since the fall of 2023, when Trey Diehl was the individual medalist at the Minnesota Golf Classic.
Senior Clark Akers (+5) shot even par with a birdie on No. 15 to tie for 49th, and senior Zach Frazer (+14) carded a 75 with three birdies, including back to back birdies on No. 14 and No. 15, tying for 82nd. Freshman Cameron Reed (+17) recorded a 78 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 9 in the final round to tie for 89th, and sophomore Walter Anderson (+26) posted a 78 with a birdie on No. 2 to finish 96th.
Host Cincinnati (-18) won the tournament by 11 shots over Little Rock (-7). Arkansas (-1) and Nebraska (-1) tied for third, and Louisville (+1) rounded out the top five. The Paladins (+27) tied for 17th with Augusta (+27) in the loaded field, which included 11 Power 4 teams.Â
Furman will compete at SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational, Oct. 5-7, in Dallas, Texas.
