Junior
Wilfer Bustamante has spearheaded the Furman attack with back-to-back hat tricks and eight goals over the three-game run. The Greenville, S.C., native scored twice in a 6-1 SoCon victory over VMI before netting all three Paladin goals in a 3-2 win over Virginia Tech. On Tuesday night, Bustamante added three more goals against USC Upstate to take the league lead with 10 goals and become the first Paladin to register back-to-back hat tricks since Ryan Higginbotham accomplished the feat in 1996.
Furman holds a 14-4-7 lead in the all-time series versus ETSU and claimed a 3-2 decision in last season's meeting in Greenville. On its last trip to Johnson City, Furman defeated the Bucs, 2-0, at Summers-Taylor Stadium to capture the 2024 SoCon Tournament title.
ETSU sports a 7-6-3 overall record and enters Saturday's match unbeaten in SoCon play at 2-0-2. The Bucs have fashioned three consecutive shutouts with the most recent coming in a scoreless draw versus Mercer last Saturday in Macon, Ga.
