Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team returns home to host Southern Conference foe VMI in the "Quinn Game" for Down Syndrome Awareness Saturday on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff, originally set for 5 p.m., has been moved to 12:00 p.m. due to forecasted inclement weather.
Admission to Saturday's match, sponsored by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, is free and the contest will be streamed live on ESPN+. Links for the live stream and live statistics can be found at FurmanPaladins.com.
Saturday's "Quinn Game" was created to promote awareness for Down Syndrome and to honor one of the program's biggest fans, 14-year-old Quinn Cronin, the daughter of former Furman soccer standout McNeil Cronin ('04). Plan to be in your seats early as the Paladins celebrate Quinn.
The Paladins come into this weekend at 3-3-4 overall and 1-1 in the SoCon. Last time out, College of Charleston rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit with two Stian Bendvold goals in the second half to clip Furman, 2-1. Saturday will mark the first SoCon match for the Paladins since a 1-0 loss at Liberty on September 26.
Furman claimed a 3-0 victory over the Keydets in last season's meeting in Lexington, Va., behind goals from
Grayson Travis,
Wilfer Bustamante, and
Luke Hutzell. The Paladins hold a 42-1-1 series lead in 44 previous meetings versus VMI.
The Keydets come to Greenville with a 4-9-1 overall record and 0-2 SoCon mark following a 1-0 home loss to Wofford last Saturday.
