GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team heads to Charlotte, N.C., Wednesday evening to face the Queens (N.C.) Royals in non-conference action at 6 p.m. from the Queens Sports Complex.

The Paladins (1-1) picked up their first victory of the season last Friday, scoring a 17-9 victory over Austin Peay in their home opener at Paladin Stadium. Furman held a 37-19 advantage over Austin Peay in shots and 24-9 in ground balls. The Paladins also forced the Governors into 19 turnovers while finishing with 13 draws.
Reynolds Hester,
Shae Insinga, and
Lily Toole all led Furman offensively with six points. Insinga and Hester both set new career highs in points while Insinga scored a career best six goals and Hester dished out a career high four assists.
Caroline Smith registered career highs of three points and three goals.
Zoe Milmoe totaled a career high four caused turnovers and three ground balls while
Rachel Sbei tied her career best of three ground balls.
Skylar Hilmer won seven draws and picked up a career high six ground balls.
In goal,
Sam Melville came off the bench to earn her first collegiate win and finished with six saves and two ground balls.
Queens (N.C.) currently sits at 0-4 overall and is coming off a 13-12 double overtime loss at Winthrop last Saturday. Picked sixth in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll, the Royals are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Kelly McQuilkin.
The Paladins are facing Queens (N.C.) for the third time in program history and own a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series.
Furman begins a stretch of three games in five days next Monday, March 2, hosting Campbell at 6 p.m. from Paladin Stadium.
