Furman Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule With Three Straight Home Games

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule with three home games of the course of six days at Paladin Stadium.

The Paladins begin their homestand on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. versus UMass Lowell and comes back Sunday afternoon to host Quinnipiac at 12 p.m. Furman then welcomes Manhattan on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. opening draw.

The Paladins (2-4) aim to snap their three-game losing streak following a 12-11 overtime loss at Old Dominion last Friday. Furman led 29-28 in shots while concluding the contest with 10 draws, nine ground balls, and six caused turnovers. For the fifth consecutive game, Shae Insinga, who was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, scored three or more goals to lead the Paladins after netting a team high five. Reynolds Hester tied Insinga with five points on four assists and one goal. Lily Toole scored four goals while Emily Muir contributed one. Skylar Hilmer won five draws and picked up a team high two ground balls. Charlotte Kent caused two turnovers. In goal, Madigan Brewer finished with six saves.

The Paladins also dropped a 15-5 decision to St. Bonaventure on March 4 at Paladin Stadium. Furman held a 16-14 advantage in ground balls and concluded the contest with 20 shots and seven caused turnovers. The Paladins also forced the Bonnies into 18 turnovers. Insinga scored a hat trick while Toole and Caroline Smith both netted a goal. Hester, Avery Adeli, and Allie Kandel all had one assist. Kent picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers along with Grace Gibson. Brewer and Sam Melville combined for 10 saves, five ground balls, and one caused turnover.

UMass Lowell currently sits at 3-4 this season while Quinnipiac is 3-3 and Manhattan 1-6. The Paladins are facing all three opponents for the first time in program history.

Furman opens Big South Conference play on Wednesday, March 25, traveling to Clinton, S.C., to face Presbyterian at 7 p.m.
