MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Furman's Ludvig Josefsson (E) tied for 22nd Tuesday to lead the Paladins at the Michael A. Marino Classic, which was held at the par 72, 7,370 yard The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Josefsson, a sophomore from Hestra, Sweden, notched a birdie on No. 8 then added additional birdies on No. 15 and No. 17 after the turn to card a final-round 76. Senior Zach Frazer (+9) led Furman with a 75 on Tuesday. He birdied three out of four holes from No. 8 through No. 11 to tie for 63rd. Â
Seniors Clark Akers (+11) and Harris Barth (+11) tied for 74th. Akers recorded a 77 with three birdies in the final round, while Barth posted a 79 with three birdies. Junior Fisher Kennedy (+14) birdied three out of four holes from No. 10 through No. 13 to finish the day with a 76, tying for 82nd, and freshman David Oliver IV (+10), who played as an individual, scored a 76 with a team-high four birdies in the final round to tie for 67th.
Louisville's Cooper Claycomb (-10) and Max Bengtsson (-10) of Coastal Carolina tied for the individual championship at 10-under. N.C. State (-15) won the tournament by four shots over No. 33 Louisville (-11), while Charleston (-3) and Coastal Carolina (-3) tied for third. The Paladins (+28) finished 16th. Â
Furman will play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, March 22-24, in Awendaw, S.C.
