GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Albert Velikonja has been selected as the Southern Conference men's outdoor track athlete of the week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Velikonja leads the league in the 5,000m after posting a time of 13:51.71 last weekend at the Raleigh Relays. He placed 17th out of more than 166 runners, and his performance ranks 15th in the NCAA East Region.
Furman will compete at the Duke Invite, April 10-11, in Durham, N.C.
