GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team will play in North Carolina's Tar Heel Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday at the par 70, 7,020 yard Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C., while select individuals will compete at Wofford Sunday through Tuesday.
"I felt like we definitely established some good momentum and made a lot of progress last week at Vanderbilt," said Furman head coach Matt Davidson, the reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, who is in his eighth year leading the Paladin program. "Being the last event before postseason, we are excited to keep that momentum building and take another step in the right direction this weekend in Chapel Hill. Finley Golf Course is another challenging test, and we will have to continue to clean things up on and around the greens to play well. We are ready and looking forward to the opportunity."
Furman's lineup for at UNC includes senior Harris Barth, senior Clark Akers, senior Zach Frazer, sophomore Ludvig Josefsson, and redshirt sophomore Walter Anderson.
The Paladins will be joined in the 15-team field by host North Carolina, which ranks 16th nationally, Campbell, Central Florida, Davidson, 27th-ranked Duke, East Tennessee State, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Houston, Kennesaw State, Nebraska, 29th-ranked Texas A&M, and No. 42 UNC Wilmington,Â
The 54-hole tournament begins on Saturday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. The Paladins will tee off on No. 14 through No. 17 in Saturday's two rounds and will play in a group with Davidson, Gardner-Webb, and North Carolina individuals. Sunday's final round begins at 8 a.m.
Admission to the tournament is free. Fans may park at the soccer/lacrosse/track complex on Old Mason Farm Road. Two-way shuttles run continuously to drop fans off at the clubhouse, which is adjacent to the first and 10th tees and ninth and 18th greens. Live tournament scoring will be available via Scoreboard by clippd.
Sophomore David Oliver IV and freshman Benton Manly will compete as individuals at the Wofford Invitational, which will be held at the par 72, 6,434 Country Club of Spartanburg Sunday through Tuesday. The Paladin duo will tee off on No. 10 starting at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and will start off No. 1 at 8:30 a.m. in Monday's second round. Oliver and Manly will play with South Carolina individuals in the first two rounds. Furman opened the 2025-26 season at the Gopher Invitational, where Akers and Frazer each shot 4-over to tie for 20th. The Paladins surged into eighth place as a team after recording a final-round 284. Barth then won the individual title at the Bearcat Invitational, marking the first individual victory of his career, with scores of 67-69-68=204, and led Furman with a sixth-place finish at SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational. The Paladins closed out the fall with a fifth-place finish at the Furman Intercollegiate. In March, Josefsson shot even par and tied for 22nd to lead Furman at the Michael A. Marino Classic in Myrtle Beach. Most recently, Barth tied for 18th to help the Paladins to a ninth-place finish at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship, which featured eight Power 4 opponents and six teams ranked among the nation's top 19.
